Rehearsals are held on Monday throughout the school year at First English Lutheran Church on North Charles and 39th Streets. Treble Choir rehearses 4:30-5:40pm; Concert Choir rehearses 5:30-7:00pm.
Vocal hearings are held to assess each child’s readiness for ensemble participation. Our hearing process is child-friendly and consists of a simple assessment of the child’s vocal, aural and rhythmic skills. Please contact the office at (410) 366-6544 or email karen@handelchoir.org to schedule a vocal hearing.
Annual tuition is $350 with discounts for siblings who join together. Scholarship assistance is available. For more information please contact the Handel Choir.
What types of music do the children sing?
Handel Children’s Choir offers our singers experience learning about and performing music of a variety of musical styles including classical, multicultural, folk and contemporary. Special attention is placed on healthy vocal production and training in musicianship skills. The key to our approach is introducing children to high quality music from the Renaissance, Baroque (time of G.F. Handel!) up to the present day, and to music from all around the world.
Are children of different backgrounds and/or religions welcome?
Yes! Handel Children’s Choir is a community-based organization, and we welcome all children. Our vision is to represent and serve our entire community. When we perform music set to a sacred text, we do so to introduce children to music as a cultural rather than as a religious experience. We sing secular music as well as religious music. You are most welcome to contact the Handel Choir office to see programs from past seasons.
